GSE Technician Job Description The GSE Technician works with a wide range of materials, tools, and fabrication technologies to create custom parts and components according to detailed specifications. This role supports all aspects of vehicle build and integration, as well as the repair and fabrication of ground support equipment (GSE). You will perform hands-on fabrication, assembly, and equipment operation in a dynamic, fast-paced environment focused on building and iterating on large prototype products. Responsibilities Oversee and execute fabrication tasks, including cutting, welding, machining, painting, and assembling materials and components. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate production of parts and assemblies when available. Operate and maintain fabrication machinery and equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable performance. Perform custom fabrication work tailored to specific requirements and customer needs, including metal work for large components. Support the repair and fabrication of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to maintain functionality, reliability, and safety. Assist with all aspects of vehicle build and integration, including mechanical assembly and composites support as needed. Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and other technicians to optimize fabrication processes and resolve technical issues. Inspect finished products and assemblies for quality, fit, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments or rework as necessary. Use hand tools and heavy equipment safely and effectively to complete fabrication and assembly tasks. Perform tube bending and fitting work as part of custom fabrication and large component construction. Work at height or on scaffolding when required to support assembly and fabrication activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety regulations, procedures, and protocols. Adapt to frequent design and process changes inherent to prototype manufacturing and take initiative to move work forward without waiting for constant direction. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with hand tools used in fabrication, assembly, and mechanical work. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings when provided. Experience with heavy equipment operation, such as forklifts, in a manufacturing or construction environment. Tube bending experience for custom fabrication and large component builds. Background in metal work and construction, specifically building large components and structures. Proficiency in welding and fitting as part of fabrication and assembly work. Comfort working on or around scaffolding and at height when required. Ability to operate fabrication and manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently. Strong initiative and ability to work proactively in a fast-changing environment without waiting for constant instructions. Attention to detail and commitment to quality when inspecting and adjusting finished products. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based primarily on the manufacturing floor, supporting facility operations in a fast-paced prototype environment where designs and processes frequently evolve and there may be limited blueprints to follow. Work takes place in both indoor and outdoor settings, often around very large products and structures, with a significant portion of time spent outdoors due to the size of the equipment and vehicles. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch break. The environment requires adaptability, comfort with changing priorities, and readiness to take initiative in a hands-on, production-oriented setting, including the safe use of fabrication tools, heavy equipment, and scaffolding. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middle River, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
