First Class Maintenance

Job Description

First Class Maintenance operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, mobile equipment and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Ability to operate multiple types of heavy equipment to assist in repairs. High school Diploma and GED Required. Must possess a valid NJ driver's license. Pass a mechanical basic skills test. High level of safety and quality. Ability to troubleshoot all plant equipment without supervision. Train other mechanics on skills needed to progress to Repairman First Class. Ability to fabricate from drawings or replacement of existing equipment. Ability to multi-task at a fast-pace (at times), work in outside conditions during all seasons, climb multi-levels by stairs & ladders, work from elevated platforms, use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.) Good problem-solving skills. Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Knowledge

Take lead during emergency breakdowns and make necessary repairs to get plant back running as soon and safely as possible. Take lead on major shutdowns. Direct helpers to accomplish necessary tasks to complete job. Assist maintenance supervisors in planning of major jobs. Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems. Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery. Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs. Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear. Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices. Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs. Assist plant operations and other maintenance personnel as required. Ability and willingness to progress thru Maintenance grades up to Repairman First Class. Additional duties as assigned.
