Role:
The Plant Engineer/Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of manufacturing and production facilities. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment to minimize downtime and optimize plant performance. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential mechanical issues and implementing preventive maintenance strategies. The Plant Engineer/Mechanic collaborates closely with production teams to support operational goals while adhering to safety and quality standards. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall reliability and productivity of the plant by applying technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in mechanical engineering technology or related field preferred. Proven experience as a mechanic or maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial machinery. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in plant maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in industrial maintenance or mechanical engineering (e.g., Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician). Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Knowledge of electrical systems and controls as they relate to mechanical equipment. Experience working in a lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environment. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with a focus on root cause analysis.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery to ensure optimal functionality. Diagnose mechanical failures and execute timely repairs to minimize production interruptions. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to plan and implement equipment upgrades and modifications. Maintain accurate maintenance records and report on equipment status and repair activities. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance and repair tasks.

The required skills enable the Plant Engineer/Mechanic to effectively maintain and repair complex mechanical systems, ensuring minimal downtime and sustained production efficiency. Proficiency in reading technical documents and schematics allows for accurate diagnosis and repair of equipment issues.
