Power Plant Outage Mechanic
Job Description
You know the kind of work where the gloves get dirty, the schedule moves fast, and at the end of the day you can point to exactly what you fixed. This is that kind of job. You'll spend October and November supporting two unit outages at a large power-generation facility in Oswego, NY working alongside the plant mechanics to tear down, repair, move, rebuild and get equipment back where it belongs. What you'll do Tear into pumps, motors, valves, piping components and other industrial equipment. Disassemble, inspect, repair, replace and reinstall mechanical components. Rig, lift, move and position equipment safely. Cut, grind, fit and prep materials for mechanical repairs. Handle corrective and emergent work when the outage throws something unexpected at the crew. Use the hand tools, power tools and rigging equipment you know how to use. Work directly with plant personnel to keep the outage moving safely and productively. What you get You'll make $45-$55/hour , work 5x10s , and receive $208/day in per diem . The planned outage window runs October 4 through November 21 , with the possibility of starting earlier to get familiar with the facility and prepare for the work. This is temporary outage work, so you know the assignment has a defined beginning and end. And you don't need power-plant experience. If you've built your mechanical skills in a steel mill, paper mill, refinery, heavy manufacturing facility or another industrial environment, your experience can translate. Who you are You're the mechanic people want beside them when the work gets real. You can tear into equipment, figure things out, work safely around heavy machinery and adapt when the plan changes. You don't need someone standing over you but you also know how to work as part of a crew. Want the details before you decide anything? Reach out and I'll tell you about the site and the outage.
