Job Description

WOOSTER COMMUNITY HOSPITAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Plant Mechanic- Shift Varies, OPERS Eligible
MAIN FUNCTION
Assists in keeping the plant and associated equipment of the Hospital in good repair. Minor electrical, mechanical, plumbing repairs and maintenance related duties are of prime importance.
RESPONSIBLE TO
Director/Manager, Facility/Maintenance
MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED. Strong fundamental mechanical ability. Ability to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to occasionally work at heights greater than 20 feet. Valid Ohio Driver's License. No written disciplinary action within the last 12 months.
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES
Health Care Facility experience. Clean driving record.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
: Employees in this position may be: Exposed to blood, body fluids and/or airborne pathogens and are required to wear personal protective equipment. Exposure to dust, variable temperatures, and long or varied hours (due to emergencies). Must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, turn, crouch, and bend as necessary to complete tasks. Subject to Short Term Hours Reduction according to policy. ____________________________________________________________________________________
RESPONSIBILITES
Ability to be self-directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure. Monitors, tests and maintains plant equipment such as Generators, Air Handlers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, and Boilers. Performs minor electrical installation and repairs as needed. Performs mechanical repairs of equipment. Performs minor plumbing installation and repairs as needed. Performs preventative maintenance to plant and other equipment as required. Maintains departmental equipment and material inventory. Responsible for all house wide and departmental polices/procedures. Ability to respond to all emergency codes. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Appropriate Service Standards. Participates in departmental meetings and training as required. Customer Service Displays positive attitude. Treats others with honesty and respect. Speaks positively in all customer interactions internal and external. Assess customer satisfaction when interacting with customer and use appropriate chain of command for unresolved issues or problems. Use face to face resolutions (crucial conversations) to intervene with patients or staff in situations where customer needs have not been met to determine a positive, mutually agreeable resolution. Leadership Embraces teamwork. Accepts and responds to change productively, while maintaining a positive attitude. Demonstrates appropriate workplace behavior and competence in job duties. Demonstrates basic conflict resolution skills. Communication Maintains awareness of verbal/ nonverbal communication in interactions with staff, other departments, physicians, patients and families. Maintains patient confidentiality in all communication interactions; written, verbal, electronic and digital. Collaborates and communicates effectively with all members of the health care team. Demonstrates basic ability to initiate and manage crucial conversations. Demonstrates acceptance of supervisory authority, guidance and instruction. Follows appropriate chain of command. Reports equipment observations and specific problems appropriately.
