Job Summary:
POSITION SUMMARY
Utilizes maintenance mechanic skills to ensure that all molding machines and mold support equipment are maintained in good working order and function safely to design and operating standards.
FUNCTIONS
  • Performs routine general maintenance and repair of presses.
  • Changes hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical circuits to meet molding conditions.
  • Responsible for repairing any hydraulic leaks.
  • In accordance with the preventive maintenance schedule and/or when there is equipment failure, troubleshoots and inspects facility equipment for defects.
  • Dismantles equipment, makes repairs/rebuilds, reassembles, and tests for proper functioning.
  • Works with other employees on maintenance and repair tasks requiring more than one employee.
  • Maintains spare parts inventory, schedules repairs, performs mold changes, and rebuilds valves and pump motors as needed.
  • Orders parts and supplies as needed.
  • Removes and installs molds as dictated by work orders and production schedules. Also brings molds to the Toolroom for repair.
  • Cleans screws and nozzles as needed.
  • Conducts emergency maintenance as required.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of maintenance and repair services performed.
  • Minimizes lost production and unscheduled equipment downtime by performing preventive maintenance duties in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Reads hydraulic, electrical, and machine mechanical prints.
  • Repairs, modifies, and installs hydraulic circuits from prints.
  • Troubleshoots electrical problems using prints.
  • Sets relief valves, unloading valves, and all other pressure adjustments.
  • Troubleshoots hydraulic problems using hydraulic schematics.
  • Demonstrates a complete understanding of the mechanical functions of injection molding machines, including mechanical advantage, strain, clamp, level, parallel, and platen.
  • Prevents grease- and oil-related product rejections.
  • Performs appropriate cleaning of press tie bars, ways, and drop areas.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area, keeping walkways and aisles clear.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties such as sweeping and trash removal.
  • When work in the primary classification is not available, performs other duties according to skill and availability.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2-3 years of demonstrated experience repairing and maintaining injection molding equipment.
  • Electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatics training preferred.
