Bridging the gap between engineering theory and shop floor execution, you will take full ownership of custom submittal packages and detailed Bills of Materials. Located right next to the shop floor, you'll enjoy the unique satisfaction of collaborating directly with fabricators and watching your custom designs physically come to life. What You Will Be Doing (Daily Responsibilities) Design 2
D Submittal Drawings:
Create detailed 2D mechanical submittal drawings for complex industrial fluid-handling and heat-transfer systems using AutoCAD. Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs): Build complete BOMs and sales order job packets to guide shop floor assembly from design approval through final production.
Shop Floor Collaboration:
Walk the manufacturing grid to view assigned projects in active build, collaborating directly with fabricators and updating post-shipment "as-built" drawings.
Provide Client Consultation:
Act as a technical contact during the submittal process, answering client engineering inquiries to secure fast "approved for production" sign-offs.
Maintain Drafting Standards:
Utilize custom internal AutoCAD commands and standards to maintain consistent design quality and support peers on technical drafting questions. What We Are Looking For (Requirements & Qualifications) 3+ years of professional 2D AutoCAD mechanical design experience in an industrial manufacturing, machinery, or structural fabrication shop.
Mechanical & Shop Floor Aptitude:
Clear understanding of how 2D assembly prints translate into raw fabrication and physical assembly.
Education:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, Industrial Design, or related field strongly preferred.
Communication Skills:
Professional written and verbal skills to communicate effectively with plant supervisors, project leads, and external clients.
