City of West Fork Utilities Maintenance Worker Updated 10/21/2022
Job Description Essential Job Duties:
1. Preforms duties daily as outlined by the Public Works Director or Crew Foreman 2. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. 3. The Employee is responsible for gathering supplies and equipment for job assignments. 4. Fix water and sewer leaks to keep the City's utility line intact and in good working order. 5. Responsible for cleaning streets and ditches. 6. Installing main for both water and sewer. 7. Installing water and sewer taps as needed 8. Reading and replacing water meters. 9. Serves 24/7 including holidays as needed for emergencies or while on call. 10. Maintain truck and equipment for service and cleanliness. Check oil and fuel level in all equipment. 11. Maintain all related tools. 12. Drive backhoe and dump truck as required. 13. Preform manual labor in the use of a shovel is required. 14. Execute all actions to protect the public health and safety in accordance with all applicable water and sewer regulations. 15. Create and submit all paperwork pertaining to the functions of this positions.
Secondary Job Duties:
1. Assist all other City Departments as needed 2. Secondary duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 1. High school diploma or GED and six months of related experience. 2. Must possess a valid driver's license. 3. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed for emergencies or while on call duty. 4. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing. 5. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information to customers and the public. 6. Must be proficient in the use of heavy equipment, light equipment, hand tools, trench boxes, impactors, gas detectors, air compressor, saws safety equipment, and tap machines. 7. While preforming the functions if this job employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to one hundred pounds. 8. While preforming the functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or air borne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
