This recruitment as Class II requires a valid Class A Commericial License
DEFINITION
Under either general or immediate supervision, the incumbent will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties in the construction, repair, cleaning, and maintenance of irrigation canals, ditches, pipelines, and structures. Transportation of equipment and supplies as well as operation of heavy equipment are additional commonly assigned tasks.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Illustrative list of essential functions not to be considered all-inclusive. Acting on behalf of CCID the incumbent will complete tasks such as:
  • Perform work in the construction, repair, cleaning, and maintenance of irrigation canals, ditches, pipelines, pump lines, and structures.
  • Operation and use of Heavy equipment in excavation, trenching, and re-fill of work area for installation, maintenance, or repair of canals, other distribution media, and structures as directed.
  • Operation and use of standard lawn equipment to water, mow, week, trim, aerate, renovate and fertilize lawns; plant, water, fertilize, and maintain landscaped areas including bushes, trees, flowers, and shrubs.
  • Operation of Class A & B vehicles
  • Concrete working including creation and setting of forms, use of shovel and pickaxe, mixing and pouring of concrete.
  • Repair and maintenance of pumps and pressure systems; oil, lube, clean and repair pumps and related equipment
  • Repair and performance of preventive maintenance on power tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment
  • Identify plant and animal pests to be controlled; measure, mix, and apply chemicals to trees, shrubs, grass and flowers to control weeds, insects, and plant diseases.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience:
Maintenance Worker I This is an entry level position that will consider candidates with no direct experience performing the tasks indicated.
PREFERRED
  • Minimum of 1 year working within a water or irrigation district or experience in Agriculture providing knowledge of general construction and maintenance in the construction, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of irrigation facilities.
HIGHLY DESIRED
Heavy Equipment experience and certification. Welding experience. QAL license. Hazmat certification on Class A. Maintenance Worker II A minimum of two years working for CCID as a Maintenance Worker I. Equivalent experience working in another water, irrigation district, or facility will be accepted to meet the two-year experience requirement. Entry at this level requires a completed Class A license certification. Maintenance Worker III A minimum of three years working for CCID as a Maintenance Worker II. Equivalent experience working in another water, irrigation district, or facility will be accepted to meet the experience requirements.
Education:
Required High School diploma or GED equivalent
Desirable Education :
  • College coursework in Agriculture
  • College coursework in Computer applications (specifically Microsoft Office suite)
  • Trade school certifications relevant to the position
Additional Requirements:
Possession of a valid CADL. This position will require continual and expected travel to multiple locations within the District. Maintain proof of clean driving record and remain in compliance with District Policy regarding use of District vehicles. Under certain circumstance, the Director of HR or General Manager may accept a valid driver's license from another State if applicant acknowledges his/her intent to acquire a CADL within 90 days by signing an acknowledgement form.
