POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Monday•Friday\nFull-time (40 hours per week)\nFirst shift (7:30 AM•4:00 PM)\n

THE ROLE

The individual filling this position will spend most of their time performing highly skilled trade duties in various trade areas, including handling routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance for multiple commercial and/or industrial facilities. The individual filling this position will also: Diagnose/troubleshoot and resolve interior and exterior building components typical to commercial and industrial buildings;\nChange various types of filters (air, fuel, etc.);\nPerform life safety inspections;\nUtilize email and a State-issued tablet for duties, including communication, recordkeeping, handling work orders, preparing reports, making estimates of time, equipment, and materials, and for tracking preventative maintenance schedules;\nWork with other trades as required.\nThe incumbent must be dependable and self-motivated since they will often be working independently. This role involves multi‑tasking and taking initiative in the completion of responsibilities with limited supervision.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates will be issued a State vehicle, cell phone, and tablet. A considerable amount of driving is involved, and the individual filling this position is required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license.\nApplicants invited to interview will be required to supply a copy of their driver's license.\n

•SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED\nGraduation from a vocational or technical school with a diploma designating completion of subject requirements in a maintenance trade area may be substituted for two (2) years of the General Experience.\nAt the

University of Connecticut Internship Training Program:

Possession of 4,000 registered on-the-job training (OJT) apprenticeship program hours, recognized by the Department of Labor's Office of Apprenticeship, along with related instruction hours in the respective maintenance trade area may be substituted for the General Experience for licensed trades (Electrical, Plumbing, HVACR) only.\nAt other state agencies: Two (2) years of experience as a Qualified Craft Worker Trainee may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.\n
