With 100 garage locations across the state and over 500 positions to fill, there's an opportunity just right for you! Staffing needs vary across the state, and available locations may change throughout the season. This temporary position runs from October 9, 2026

Schedule and Pay:

During winter operations, the Iowa DOT works around the clock and you'll be on call to provide support! Schedules and hours are flexible, and we do our best to work around your availability. Starting wages are outlined below, with opportunity for overtime pay as the weather or garage needs: New Seasonal Workers

•$22.50 Returning Seasonal Workers

•$24.00 Returning = worked any seasonal positions since Oct. 1, 2020 This is a non-merit temporary position with the Iowa Department of Transportation. The Iowa DOT is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Must be at least 18 years old Safety-focused and detail-oriented Must possess a CDL or Commercial Learner's Permit before hire Provide electronic consent for a full query in the T.S. Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse Pass a pre-employment drug test Must obtain Class A CDL within 45 days of hire Maintenance of Class A CDL through the entire season
