Job Overview The Village of Morton Grove is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time Maintenance Worker I position.
Overview:
The Maintenance Worker I performs manual labor of routine difficulty involving physically demanding unskilled and semi-skilled tasks and performs related work as required. This recruitment is designed to fill a Maintenance Worker I vacancy in the Division of Streets. Under the direct supervision of a Crew Leader, the employee will perform the duties as assigned and associated with the Division of Streets and assist other divisions within the Department of Public Works. Consequently, a history of experience with construction is desirable. If not directly engaged in street division operations, this employee will also be expected to operate as a laborer, assisting the other divisions. This is a laborer position that is subject to 24-hour callback and requires rotated on-call duties.
Examples of Knowledge and Skills:
Performs heavy manual labor, completing tasks such as shoveling and raking hot/cold mix asphalt. Operate various equipment such as front-end loaders, bobcats, rollers, riding lawn mowers and dump/semi-trucks. Ability to operate gas/battery powered tools such as walk-behind saw, plate compactor, cut-off saw, hammer drill, back-pack blower and line trimmer. Ability to comprehend roadway sign layout, removal and installation. Participate in snow removal and ice control operations. Adhere to all safety, rules and regulations.
