Hiring Agency Education and Labor Cabinet | Kentucky Department of Education Location 303 South 2nd St Danville, KY 40422 Description The Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD), located in Danville, Kentucky, is a statewide educational center dedicated to serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing students from across the Commonwealth. KSD provides a bilingual environment in which students learn and grow in both American Sign Language (ASL) and English. Our programs are designed to empower students with the linguistic, academic, social, and transition skills they need to become confident, capable, and successful lifelong learners. KSD is organizationally part of the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), a service agency within the Commonwealth of Kentucky under the Education and Labor Cabinet. KDE supports KSD through guidance, resources, and oversight as part of its broader mission to ensure success for every student in Kentucky's P-12 public education system. As one of only two state-operated special schools under
KDE, KSD
has a long and proud history of excellence in Deaf education and cultural preservation. We value partnerships with families, local school districts, and community stakeholders to ensure every student receives the individualized support they need.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
(AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age. Working Conditions Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures. Must follow safety procedures, such as utilization of eye and ear protection, when utilizing certain mechanical equipment. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months.
