Job Description

The England Authority is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Airfield Maintenance and Grounds Technician . This position performs maintenance and operational duties in and around the airfield at Alexandria International Airport (AEX). The ideal candidate will have experience operating and performing routine maintenance on tractors, large commercial mowing equipment, and other heavy equipment. Experience operating large equipment in a regulated environment is preferred. The Airfield Technician assists with the daily maintenance of airport grounds, runways, taxiways, airfield facilities, and equipment to help ensure the airport remains safe and compliant with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with general maintenance of airfield buildings, pavement, and related facilities to meet FAA requirements. Maintains airport grounds by mowing, trimming, weeding, pruning, and performing other landscaping duties. Repairs and maintains irrigation systems. Assists with the daily maintenance of runways, taxiways, safety areas, and airfield lighting systems. Cleans equipment and facilities and performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance. Assists with the proper mixing and application of herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, and other approved chemicals in accordance with applicable regulations and safety procedures. Troubleshoots and assists with repairs of electrical issues related to airfield systems and equipment. Operates heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, runway brooms, sweepers, dump trucks, backhoes, tractors, and other related equipment. Operates equipment to grade and maintain runways, taxiways, safety areas, airport roadways, and other airport property. Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance of equipment and reports mechanical or operational issues. Cleans equipment and tools after use and maintains clean, organized, and safe storage areas. Performs other related duties and general maintenance tasks as assigned or requested.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent required. Three years of experience operating large commercial mowing equipment and performing routine equipment maintenance preferred. Experience operating heavy equipment is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must successfully complete a pre-employment criminal background check and any subsequent background checks required for airport employment. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding maintenance duties. Must be able to safely operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment and grounds maintenance equipment.

Pay:
$17.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
