Job Description - MT Maintenance Aide I (260000IT) Job Description MT Maintenance Aide I - (260000IT) Job Summary Towson University (TU) has earned distinction as both a top-100 public university and one of the nation's great colleges to work for. Under direct supervision, the MT Maintenance Aide I assists electric shop and maintenance personnel by performing simple and repetitive tasks using standard procedures, tools, and equipment. Responsibilities and Duties Functions as an unskilled helper to electric shop personnel and maintenance mechanics personnel in performing maintenance and repair work. Gather, organize, and transport tools, equipment, and materials to job sites. Pull wires, bend and install conduit, and mount electrical boxes and fixtures. Drill holes, cut openings, and perform basic construction tasks as directed. Test electrical systems and equipment using basic tools under supervision. Load and unload materials and equipment. Completes simple reports reflecting status of assigned maintenance projects. Qualifications and Skills One year related work experience. Working knowledge of building construction or maintenance and repair practices and techniques used in the trade where assigned; of safety practices and procedures related to the assigned trade. Working knowledge and skill in the use of tools and equipment of the trade. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to complete logs, work order forms and simple reports; to make adjustments, repairs and replacements to building fixtures and mechanical equipment; to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment or machinery; to work at heights up to 35 feet; to manipulate heavy equipment, tools, supplies and/or exert force up to 70 lbs.; to concurrently manipulate multiple controls on machinery and equipment; to work in hazardous or irritating environments, confined spaces and adverse weather or temperature conditions; to wear and work in personal protective equipment. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. Salary and Benefits Hourly rate range of $18.77-$19.91 and a contract that offers annual leave, holidays and sick days. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage.
