Onekama, MI Job Summary:

Responsible for maintenance of buildings, grounds, and cemetery. Clean and maintain church outside. Windows need to be cleaned inside and out weather permitting in church, offices, basement and rectory. Replace candles as needed. Clean and maintain garage and storage sheds. Clean and maintain church hall. Clean and maintain furnace rooms and storage rooms. In winter months, the sidewalks and front/rear entrances are to be kept snow free and salted, especially before every Mass, Food Pantry distribution, and special events/meetings. In summer months, maintain the grounds by keeping grass mowed, trimmed, watered, and shrubs trimmed. Move sprinklers around; do not leave them in one area. Make sure that the water is not hitting the building and sprinkler heads are not left along sidewalks or roadway during masses. Maintain underground sprinkler system for lawn including Spring start-up and Fall shut-down of system.

Roofs:

Monitor snow loads and inspect for leaks. Clear ice dams from roof drainage area with extreme caution of rubber membrane.

St Joseph Cemetery:

Cut grass, and trim as needed. Turn sprinkler system on/off while on-site. Drain water lines in the Fall, and remove sprinkler heads. Restart sprinkler system in the Spring. Make facility repairs, including painting, as needed. Maintain equipment in working order, organize tools and supplies. Empty all trash cans weekly and make sure garbage is out on trash pickup days Pick up mail at local post office first thing in morning when on site. Church Vestibule doors closed to nave in summer cooling months, and open in winter heating months. Setup indoor/outdoor Christmas trees, exterior wreaths, and outdoor Nativity Manger. Setup/Teardown tables and chairs for events: Faith Formation, Food Pantry, Funeral Luncheons, Meetings, Bazaars, Festivals, etc. Rotate security cameras batteries. Monitor water softener on salt level and keep it full of salt. Monitor use and location of dehumidifiers, empty as needed. Obtain bids for construction, maintenance, etc., projects upon request. Recycle including all cardboard, etc. at local recycling center. Ask before discarding misplaced items. Employee is expected to work at St. Joseph of Onekama.
