Job Description
Position Summary The maintenance custodian position works to provide maintenance of the Heritage Center of Brooklyn Center property, including but not limited to structures, mechanical and electrical equipment, carpentry, painting, and plumbing. The maintenance custodian works under the general supervision of the Operations Director. Examples of Duties Essential duties and responsibilities Performs minor maintenance repairs, such as replacing light bulbs, vacuuming and other cleaning of equipment parts, etc. Performs carpentry work as needed throughout the buildings. Maintains logs on equipment and repairs, recommends replacement of equipment. Monitors building heating and cooling units to determine & correct where problems are occurring. Performs preventative maintenance. Performs landscaping duties as requested by maintenance supervisor. Caulks and tuck points brick, block, window and door spaces. Follows preventative maintenance schedules. Assist with maintenance of courtyard fountains and other exterior fixtures. Cleans/disinfects sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, and drinking fountains. Maintains lights throughout the buildings and grounds keeping all lighting systems functional. Maintains all building fire extinguishers. Keeps janitor closets and cleaning equipment stocked and clean. Reports to the Maintenance Lead any equipment in need of further maintenance or professional service work. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. Assists in snow removal from sidewalks and stairs around the buildings as requested. Mow lawns, trim trees, and lay sod as needed. Plant trees or flowers and pick weeds as assigned. Maintains a well-groomed ground appearance of the Heritage Center. Discards trash from waste receptacles, cleans outside of receptacles and washing inside of receptacles as needed. Empties recycling bins. Dusts and cleans walls, doors and frames woodwork, vents, counters, ledges, railings, tables, desks, chairs, sinks, exercise and game machines. Restock paper supplies and soap in public shared spaces of Heritage Center, including restroom facilities. Performs routine maintenance of tile floors and stairs. Routine carpet maintenance including vacuuming and spot cleaning. Completes other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED or equivalent. One year maintenance experience.
