Shop Manager Purpose:
As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the daily operations of the maintenance shop and ensuring vehicles, equipment, and work areas are properly maintained. In this position, you will assist with preventive maintenance activities, parts replacement, shop organization, and equipment upkeep while helping maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to safety.
Primary Job Functions:
  • Assist and perform with routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs on company vehicles, trailers, and equipment as needed.
  • Support the installation, replacement, and repair of parts and components to maintain operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with the Shop Manager to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks and efficient workflow.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Complete required paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop environment in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards.
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties including sweeping floors, removing trash, and maintaining work areas.
  • Assist with identifying equipment issues and communicating repair needs to management.
  • Demonstrate a hands-on approach to learning and actively participate in training opportunities provided by management and team members.
  • Support other shop operations and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience and/or Education Experience supporting vehicles, trailers, or equipment maintenance operations preferred. Skills
  • Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to assist wherever needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent service and support to drivers and fellow employees.
Physical Requirements Ability to walk, bend, twist, turn, climb ladders, and perform other physical activities throughout the workday. Frequently lift and carry materials, tools, and components weighing up to 50 pounds. Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to work around noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, dust, and other shop-related environmental conditions. Technical Knowledge General knowledge of OSHA and DOT safety practices. Familiarity with basic maintenance tools and modern shop technology systems. Additional Requirements Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred but not required. Willingness to travel locally when necessary.
Pay:
$22.00 - $27.00 per hour
