Performs semiskilled work maintaining parks and play areas, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Park Operations Supervisor. Position Responsibilities Maintains a safe, comfortable, and clean environment in park facilities, buildings, and grounds. Ensures accessibility, safety, and security of park facilities and grounds. Assists maintenance personnel with repair and maintenance of park equipment, buildings, and grounds. Verifies park facility reservations. Prepares ball fields for use. Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer. Performs related tasks as required. Qualifications Some knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in general maintenance work; some knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools and techniques of the standard building trades; some knowledge of safety precautions applicable to the duties of the class; some knowledge of the methods used in the preparation of baseball and softball fields; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. Education, Experience, and Special Requirements High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in grounds maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
