Job Description

The Handyman / Maintenance Technician supports the Director of Facilities/Maintenance Assistant Manager in maintaining a safe, functional, and well-kept environment. This hands-on role is responsible for executing daily repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance tasks across the facility while maintaining accurate records of work completed. Responsibilities Perform general facility repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and painting tasks. Complete daily maintenance work orders efficiently and report progress using maintenance tracking software. Execute scheduled preventative maintenance routines on equipment, fixtures, and building systems to minimize downtime. Conduct routine facility inspections to identify safety hazards, necessary repairs, or needed improvements. Assist with inventory tracking for tools, hardware, and maintenance supplies in Excel or facility management software. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop and job site environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards. Respond promptly to urgent or emergency maintenance requests across the facility. Support facility optimization and minor physical project setups or workspace reconfigurations as directed. Requirements High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or trade certifications preferred. 2+ years of hands-on experience in general building maintenance, facility repairs, or trades. Comfortable using a computer for daily tasks, including web browsing, email, and logging work orders (Typing speed 35+ WPM). Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel or digital work order systems for logging time, tracking tasks, and inventory. Strong mechanical aptitude with practical knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry practices. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment. Knowledge of OSHA and facility safety regulations. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical labor, including standing, bending, climbing ladders, and lifting. Availability to work flexible hours as needed. Standard hours are 7:30am - 4:00pm, with occasional extended hours for urgent repairs.
