Job Description

THE POSITION
The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking a hardworking, outdoor-driven Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 to help build, maintain, and enhance Pennsylvania's game lands and wildlife habitats. Int this role, you will operate heavy equipment, construct and repair infrastructure, manage habitat projects, assist with prescribed fires, and work across forests, fields, and rugged terrain to support healthy ecosystems and public access. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the upkeep and improvement of game land areas through construction, maintenance, and fieldwork. The role focuses on caring for public access areas, habitat spaces, and essential infrastructure. As a Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
Infrastructure Maintenance :
Repair and maintain roads, bridges, gates, parking areas, and public range features
Field Project Support:
Assist with mowing and habitat improvement efforts that promote healthy wildlife areas
Construction Assistance:
Help build or upgrade structures and signs used throughout game lands
Equipment Operation:
Operate tools and machinery required for outdoor maintenance tasks
Land Stewardship:
Work with field staff to ensure game lands remain safe, accessible, and well cared for
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Alternate Work Schedule may apply.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of laboring experience using construction tools and equipment; or One year of farming experience using agricultural tools and equipment; or One year of construction equipment operation experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent. This position requires the selected candidate to obtain an active Class A Commercial Driver's License within one year of employment in this job.
