Job Description

The Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks to support the upkeep, repair, and cleanliness of City of Arcola facilities, grounds, and public infrastructure. This position plays an essential role in maintaining safe, efficient, and functional city operations. Key Responsibilities Perform general maintenance, repairs, and improvements on city buildings, parks, and public areas. Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and city vehicles in a safe and responsible manner. Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance needs. Assist with landscaping, mowing, tree trimming, debris removal, and seasonal grounds upkeep. Support public works tasks such as street repair, signage installation, drainage maintenance, and minor utility work. Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely and professional manner. Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and safe. Follow all city policies, safety procedures, and regulatory guidelines. Assist with city events or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

Prior maintenance, construction, or public works experience preferred.

Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.

Knowledge of basic repair techniques, landscaping methods, and facility upkeep.

Ability to lift, carry, and perform physical work in various weather conditions.

Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Valid driver s license required. Work Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week

Occasional overtime or on-call duty may be required
