Maintenance Helper Job Description This role supports the maintenance team in a large, clean, and organized distribution center by performing basic repairs, assisting with facility projects, and ensuring work areas remain safe and well maintained. You will use hand and power tools, help with painting and wall preparation, and assist with minor mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facility maintenance tasks while receiving on-the-job training. Responsibilities Use hand and power tools to perform basic repairs on equipment such as push carts, ladders, racks, and conveyors. Support ongoing facility projects, including painting interior warehouse areas and patching and sanding walls to prepare surfaces. Change out parts on various types of equipment under guidance from maintenance personnel. Perform minor plumbing tasks such as changing faucets in bathrooms and unclogging toilets, without engaging in extensive plumbing work. Assist with basic electrical, HVAC, and building maintenance tasks as directed. Repair and adjust locks and other simple facility hardware to maintain security and functionality. Complete preventive maintenance tasks and respond to work orders as assigned. Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of debris to support a safe working environment. Follow safety procedures and use tools and equipment properly to prevent accidents and equipment damage. Assist with any additional basic repairs or maintenance tasks as needed and participate in on-the-job training to build skills. Essential Skills Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing facility. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose basic mechanical issues. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for basic repairs and maintenance. Ability to perform painting tasks, including preparing, patching, and sanding walls. Basic understanding of preventive maintenance practices. Ability to assist with minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building maintenance tasks. Capability to follow work orders and instructions accurately. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining clean and well-kept work areas. Willingness to learn and receive training on new maintenance tasks and equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Mechanically inclined with a strong interest in maintenance and repair work. Previous experience in facilities or building maintenance. Comfort working with a variety of tools and equipment in a warehouse environment. Ability to prioritize tasks and support multiple maintenance activities as needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a large distribution center that is clean, organized, and designed to support efficient operations. You will work primarily on the first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break, Monday through Friday. You may occasionally be asked to work weekends, though this is not frequent. The work involves regular use of hand and power tools, and tasks are performed indoors within the warehouse and facility areas. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and teamwork, with clear procedures and structured maintenance activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Flower Mound, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
