The performance of a variety of manual tasks during the construction, repair and maintenance of city services and facilities involving the maintenance and operation of light, medium, and heavy duty vehicular equipment productively. Work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all vehicular equipment assigned. Work will also involve manual labor of a physically demanding nature.
Tasks performed include:
(1) assist in patching holes in streets and driveways; (2) dig out holes and trenches with manual and automatic digging tools and fill depressions; (3) performs a variety of maintenance work along the creek and walking path; (4) assists in painting crosswalks, installing and maintaining traffic and street signs; (5) operates power tools when necessary; (6) maintains and performs minor repairs to equipment; (7) wash and lubricate vehicles used by crew; (8) keeps records and logs of time, material and equipment used; (9) prepares routine reports; (10) cross train with other departments; (11) follow proper safety guidelines; (12) will agree to provide backup services to the departments and on-call crews when emergencies arise; (13) performs other tasks as assigned. Qualifications One-year experience in operating and servicing equipment. Special Requirements Possess valid Texas CDL drivers license. Understand and follow instructions. Climb and service equipment as needed. Bend and stoop for extended periods of time and reach above head. Lift a minimum of 100 pounds. The ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, City officials and the public. The work involves operation of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicular equipment, and unrestricted use of hands and fingers.
