Direct Hire Job Overview:
Summit Staffing is seeking an experienced Lead Maintenance Technician to join a growing manufacturing operation in the Bloomingdale, Illinois area. This is a permanent, direct-hire role. This is a hands-on senior-level maintenance position for an experienced technician who can troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex production equipment while also providing technical guidance and mentorship to other maintenance team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in a CNC machining or manufacturing environment and possess strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC troubleshooting skills. This is not a traditional maintenance management position . The Lead Maintenance Technician will remain actively involved in troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, machine installations, and emergency breakdown response while serving as a technical resource and leader for the maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair CNC machinery and complex production equipment . Perform advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs. Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems . Diagnose equipment failures and determine the appropriate corrective action. Troubleshoot motors, drives, sensors, switches, wiring, fuses, relays, contactors, and other electrical components. Utilize multimeters and other diagnostic equipment to identify electrical problems. Troubleshoot and make adjustments to PLCs and machine control systems . Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on CNC machines and other production equipment. Inspect machinery and components for wear, damage, misalignment, and potential failure. Dismantle and reassemble machinery as necessary to access and repair equipment. Test equipment following repairs to verify proper operation and production readiness. Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime. Assist with installation, startup, modification, and relocation of production machinery. Help identify recurring equipment problems and recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability. Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair documentation, and preventive maintenance logs. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized maintenance and production environment. Follow all company safety procedures, including applicable lockout/tagout requirements. Provide technical guidance, coaching, and hands-on support to other maintenance technicians and mechanics . Assist less-experienced technicians with troubleshooting, repairs, and proper maintenance procedures. Help prioritize maintenance issues and communicate equipment concerns to management and production leadership. Serve as a senior technical resource for the maintenance team while remaining actively involved in daily maintenance activities. Required Qualifications 7-10+ years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience preferred. Extensive hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing CNC machinery is required . Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair abilities. Strong electrical troubleshooting experience. Proficiency using a multimeter and electrical diagnostic equipment . Experience troubleshooting motors, drives, wiring, sensors, switches, relays, contactors, and other electrical components. Working knowledge of PLC systems and machine controls . Strong understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams . Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance diagnostic equipment. Experience working in a CNC machine shop, precision machining, metal fabrication, or similar manufacturing environment strongly preferred. Ability to read equipment manuals, technical documentation, maintenance procedures, and safety instructions. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during equipment breakdowns. Leadership & Mentoring Experience The successful candidate will have the technical ability to operate at a Lead Technician / Level III level and should have experience providing guidance to other maintenance personnel.
Ideal candidates may have:
Previously served as a Lead Maintenance Technician, Senior Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Lead, or similar role . Led or coordinated the work of a small maintenance team. Trained or mentored junior maintenance technicians or mechanics. Assisted management with determining repair priorities and troubleshooting difficult equipment problems. Served as the "go-to" technician when other maintenance employees needed assistance. A desire to continue developing toward a future Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager position.
Pay:
$45.00 - $50.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
