Mechanic Shop Foreman Hodgkins, IL 60525 Share Share Email Post Share Job purpose The Mechanic Shop Foreman assists in coordinating activities involved with procuring parts, goods and services such as raw materials, small equipment, tools, parts, and supplies. Acts as assistant manager, coordinating activities of workers involved in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment by following duties. This is a second shift role. Duties and responsibilities Place part orders, review received orders and update inventory through online systems
Conduct daily safety talks
Communicate with other shop managers, process of repairs, any issues
Walk the shop and yard areas making sure areas and equipment are secure
Routinely audits computerized inventory records to ensure accuracy and sufficient quantities, makes recommendations on excess or obsolete inventory
Expedites delivery of parts to mechanics
Submits daily "Shop Notes" at end of shift, to all shop personnel on all activities Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent
3 to 5 years related experience in parts procurement with some supervisory responsibility in the maintenance of trailers, trucks, and heavy equipment
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with managers, suppliers, manufacturers, mechanics, and field personnel
Proficient in MS Office products and JIT, Inventory, costing, EOQ and taking physical inventories
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, shop manuals, parts, manuals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations
Ability to work 2nd shift with rotating Saturdays in season
Must have a valid driver's license Working conditions Work around moving objects or vehicles, fumes, solvents, grease and oil. May work under conditions of inclement weather.
