SUMMARY SCC
is seeking a Maintenance Manager responsible for overseeing the maintenance of buildings and equipment on the campus, including interior and exterior, and HVAC systems; routine and non-routine repairs and scheduled maintenance activities. Position includes on-call hours for emergencies, snow removal, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Perform hands on work; HVAC, general maintenance and repair work; painting, carpentry work, electrical, etc. Provides supervision for work in progress; provides assistance as needed; problem solving. Insures appropriate and proper preventative maintenance; reviews preventative maintenance schedule. Prioritizes and assigns jobs for maintenance department; develops estimates for time, manpower, equipment and tools. Communicate with faculty, staff and vendors regarding requests for maintenance, problems with equipment, buildings, or weather. Maintains paperwork associated with maintenance department, such as maintenance requests, repair orders, requisitions, time sheets, etc. Maintains adequate supplies and equipment for department, prepares requisitions as needed, maintains equipment and contacts vendors for repair of equipment. Operation of campus vehicles as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Performs normal supervisory functions:
trains; instructs; assigns work to departmental personnel; arranges for additional help or need for overtime; explains and enforces college policies, national, state and local safety rules, policies and regulations; evaluates performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; minimum three years experience in maintenance and repairs, internal and external building maintenance; experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair, light maintenance duties; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and expertise in areas of supervision, reading blueprints, carpentry, painting, electrical and plumbing. Two or more years of supervisory experience required. Must be able to use hand tools, electrical/power tools, voltage meters, snow removal equipment, personal computer, word processing software, DOS, and Windows.
