JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations, ensuring the reliability of production equipment and facility systems. This role leads a team of maintenance technicians, prioritizes work orders, and supports preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maintain safe, efficient operations. The Maintenance Supervisor serves as a key link between maintenance leadership and frontline execution, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and in alignment with production needs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Safety Promote and enforce compliance with AXEL's Safety Management System and OSHA standards Ensure all team members follow PPE requirements and safe work practices Identify, report, and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors Support environmental compliance (leaks, spills, waste handling) Maintenance Operations Supervise daily maintenance activities including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance Assign, prioritize, and coordinate work orders based on production needs Troubleshoot and support resolution of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues Ensure timely response to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime Monitor completion and quality of maintenance work Team Leadership Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians Provide direction, training, and support to ensure skill development and performance improvement Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance management Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive work environment Planning & Scheduling Assist in developing and executing preventive and predictive maintenance programs Coordinate maintenance schedules with production and operations teams Track and report maintenance metrics (downtime, response time, PM completion rates) Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance activities Quality & Continuous Improvement S upport AXEL's Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015 / IATF 16949, if applicable) Identify and implement process improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts Maintain accurate maintenance records and inventory tracking Vendor & Inventory Coordination Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or services Assist in managing spare parts inventory and ordering critical components Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and available Supervisory Responsibilities Direct supervision of maintenance technicians (typically 2-6 employees) Responsible for assigning work, monitoring performance, and supporting employee development Assists with hiring, training, coaching, and corrective action Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals Working knowledge of industrial equipment, PLCs, hydraulics, and automation systems Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with maintenance systems (CMMS preferred) Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment 1-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred Technical training, certifications, or vocational education preferred Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the shift Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, confined spaces) Must be available for overtime, on-call support, and emergency response as needed
