Job Description

Join the team at beautiful Beaver Lake State Park as a Year-round Temporary Maintenance employee. This position offers the stability of year-round employment with the variety of seasonal work in one of North Dakota's most scenic state parks. From approximately April through October, you'll work at Beaver Lake State Park, helping maintain facilities and grounds while supporting visitors enjoying boating, fishing, hiking, biking, camping, and other outdoor recreation. During the winter months (November through March), you'll continue performing maintenance duties with added flexibility. Depending on where you live, you may work either at Beaver Lake State Park year-round or from our Bismarck location during the winter before returning to the park for the primary season.
Salary & Benefits:
$25.00 per hour Based on number of hours worked per week/month you may be able to participate in our health insurance option and contribute towards a 401k option Seasonal housing may be available during the April-October period, providing a convenient on-site living option at Beaver Lake State Park or A campsite with utilities can be provided for employees who prefer to use their own recreational vehicle. Duties and Tasks Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities, including groundskeeping, repairs, and custodial work Lead and support seasonal maintenance staff in a team-oriented environment Plan and oversee facility improvement projects and seasonal maintenance operations Ensure Park infrastructure to include campgrounds, cabins, boating and fishing docks remain safe and functional Maintain compliance with safety standards, policies, and operational procedures Operate and maintain park equipment, tools, and vehicles Assist with event preparation and support for community programs and special park activities Collaborate with park leadership to prioritize projects and respond to visitor needs Transport park equipment, by truck and trailer to support park operations, including delivering equipment for maintenance and repairs. Minimum Qualifications Successful candidates will bring a combination of leadership ability, technical skills, and a passion for outdoor recreation.
Ideal qualifications include:
High School Diploma or GED required Valid Driver's License Trailering experience Two years of proven hands-on experience in park, facility, or grounds maintenance operations, including equipment operation, basic mechanical or small engine repair, and ensuring safe, reliable day-to-day site function Demonstrated leadership ability in a team-based environment, including setting expectations, supporting performance, and maintaining workplace safety and professionalism Experience supporting planning and project coordination, including prioritizing tasks, delegating work, managing schedules, and completing projects efficiently Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Commitment to providing excellent service to park visitors and the community. Preferred Qualifications Experience with project management and coordinating maintenance or improvement projects Proven leadership experience in a maintenance or outdoor operations setting Chainsaw operation experience Wildland fire experience Experience with chemical applications (herbicides/pesticides).
