Belleville, NJ Schedule:
4x10, Monday-Thursday, 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. About Us B&M Machine has been a precision CNC job shop in Belleville since 1947. Fifteen people, eleven machines, high-mix / low-volume work in brass, aluminum, stainless, and exotics like Inconel and Waspaloy. Third-generation ownership, still family-run. The work is short-run, tight-tolerance, and different every week — which is why the person running our floor has to actually be a machinist. The Role This is the senior technical position in the shop and the first line of supervision for every production employee.
You run the floor:
who is running what, whether the setups are right, whether people are getting better, and whether the equipment is in good shape. This is a working position. You are on the floor in a hands on capacity. You report to the Operations Manager and supervise all production personnel: machinists, operators, parts finishers, and shipping/receiving. The Operations Manager owns the order — what we promised, when, and for how much. You own the execution. What You'll Do Scheduling Set the day-to-day schedule — which jobs run on which machines, in what order, and who runs them Work from released work orders and promise dates set by the Operations Manager Raise and resolve issues with the

Report injuries, near-misses, and unsafe conditions immediately Run new-employee safety orientation on the floor Requirements High-level machinist, 8+ years CNC experience including first-run setups on both mills and lathes Full CAD/CAM capability GD&T, blueprint reading, inspection tools, and speeds/feeds across brass, aluminum, and stainless Prior experience leading or training other machinists Mechanical and maintenance aptitude on production equipment Able to lift 50 lbs regularly What Good Looks Like The shop's output and quality visibly improve when you're running the floor You teach "why," not just "how."
