Help Keep a Progressive Dairy Operation Running We're recruiting on behalf of a growing, family-owned dairy operation seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the repair and maintenance of farm equipment, facilities, and infrastructure. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in quality workmanship, and wants the satisfaction of keeping an operation running efficiently every day. You'll have the opportunity to work independently, take ownership of the maintenance program, and play an important role in the long-term success of the operation. Position Overview The Maintenance Manager is responsible for keeping farm equipment and facilities operating safely and reliably. This role includes preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, inventory management, and helping develop organized maintenance systems that reduce downtime and keep the operation running smoothly. This position is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, organized, and takes pride in doing quality work the first time. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on farm equipment and vehicles. Diagnose and repair tractors, trucks, skid steers, loaders, implements, and other agricultural equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues. Maintain pumps, compressors, fans, heaters, and other farm infrastructure. Support manure handling and water management systems. Maintain an organized shop, parts inventory, and maintenance records. Identify potential equipment issues before they become major failures. Assist with seasonal field operations during planting, harvest, and other busy periods as needed. Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. Communicate maintenance priorities and equipment needs with farm management. What Success Looks Like Equipment downtime is minimized through preventative maintenance and timely repairs. Problems are identified and addressed before they become expensive failures. The maintenance shop remains organized and functional. Repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and correctly. Other members of the team know they can count on you to follow through. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who: Has a strong work ethic and takes ownership of their responsibilities. Can work independently with minimal supervision. Enjoys troubleshooting and solving mechanical problems. Is dependable, organized, and follows through on commitments. Prioritizes safety and quality workmanship. Communicates well and works effectively with others. Is willing to continue learning and take on new challenges. Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following is preferred, but not required: Agricultural or heavy equipment maintenance Diesel and gasoline engine repair Hydraulic systems Basic electrical troubleshooting Welding and fabrication CDL (or willingness to obtain one) Equivalent hands-on experience is valued just as highly as formal training. Work Schedule Farm work is seasonal, with typical workloads ranging from 40-65+ hours per week , depending on the time of year. The owners recognize that great employees have different scheduling goals. Whenever practical, they work with employees to develop schedules that meet both the operational needs of the farm and the employee's desired hours. Some employees prefer a traditional full-time schedule, while others appreciate additional overtime opportunities during planting, harvest, and other peak seasons. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply even if their ideal schedule differs somewhat from the typical range above. The goal is to find the right person and develop a schedule that works well for both the employee and the operation whenever possible. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Stand and walk for extended periods on uneven terrain. Lift up to 50 pounds. Bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks. Safely operate tools, machinery, and farm equipment. Compensation & Benefits $20-45/hour , based on experience, skill level, and ability to work independently. Overtime opportunities available. Potential annual performance bonus.
