General Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description

Facilities Supervisor - Maintenance Operations The facilities supervisor will be responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating the operations of the maintenance departments in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC and Plumbing. This role requires a hands-on leader who ensures the campus facility operates reliably while maintaining a safe, efficient, and cost-effective environment. The supervisor will work closely with maintenance staff, campus leadership and external vendors to prioritize work, allocate resources and deliver high-quality repairs and preventative services.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Inspecting the campus facility regularly to identify issues and necessary repairs, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions; Supervising and managing maintenance team members, assigning tasks based on skill sets, workload and safety considerations; Coordinating maintenance worker schedules and ensuring work orders and preventative maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner; Managing budgets, preparing cost estimates, and purchasing supplies and equipment for repairs and renovations while tracking expenditures; Ensuring all machinery, electrical systems and equipment are regularly maintained and operate efficiently to minimize downtime; Implementing preventative maintenance measures and routine inspection programs to avoid potential repairs and extend equipment life; Ensuring compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental regulations, including safe work practices and permit requirements; Keeping detailed, auditable records of inspections, maintenance activities, service logs and repairs; Communicating effectively with facility staff, building occupants and vendors about scheduled repairs, expected disruptions and emergency responses. The ideal candidate demonstrates technical knowledge across electrical, mechanical, HVAC and plumbing systems, strong supervisory experience, excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands while adhering to budget and safety standards.
