Job Description

Maintenance Lead This position is designed for a high-level multi-craft maintenance technician who is ready to become a hands-on Maintenance Lead. The ideal candidate wants to continue working directly on equipment while developing the leadership, planning, and team-management experience needed to potentially move into a Maintenance Manager position within approximately two to three years. This is not an immediate Maintenance Manager position. The person selected will be expected to learn the operation, earn the team's trust, improve maintenance execution, and gradually assume additional responsibility.
SHIFTS:
All shifts operate Monday-Friday.
First shift:
6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Second shift:
2:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m.
Third shift:
10:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m. Approximately 8-10 hours of overtime per week as needed
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a hands-on lead technician while performing high-level multi-craft maintenance Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on industrial production equipment Diagnose electrical issues involving 480V systems, motors, controls, sensors, relays, and industrial wiring Troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLC-controlled equipment at the input/output level Work with VFDs, automation equipment, control panels, and FANUC robotic systems Repair and maintain conveyors, gearboxes, motors, bearings, belt drives, chains, sprockets, and material-handling equipment Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic components Perform preventive and predictive maintenance while supporting production requirements Help prioritize daily work orders and assign work based on urgency and technician capabilities Provide technical direction and troubleshooting support to other maintenance technicians Assist with planning repairs, shutdown work, equipment upgrades, and preventive-maintenance activities Monitor open work orders and follow through until repairs are properly completed Help identify recurring equipment failures and develop long-term corrective actions Improve PM procedures, equipment records, spare-parts planning, and maintenance documentation Coordinate with production leadership regarding downtime, equipment availability, and repair priorities Communicate equipment concerns, safety issues, staffing needs, and parts requirements to the Maintenance Manager Help train and develop less-experienced maintenance technicians Support a culture of accountability, urgency, safety, and preventive maintenance Gradually assume tactical responsibilities currently handled by the Maintenance Manager Work approximately 25% of the time outdoors and at heights on conveyors, motors, and hoppers
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong industrial multi-craft maintenance background Advanced electrical troubleshooting experience is required Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment operating on 480V power Strong mechanical experience with conveyors, gearboxes, motors, bearings, chains, and belt-driven equipment Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, VFDs, automation equipment, and industrial control systems Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment without necessarily programming PLCs Robotics experience is preferred but not required Previous experience serving as a lead technician, shift lead, senior technician, or informal team leader is strongly preferred Ability to prioritize work, direct technicians, and communicate effectively with production leadership Willingness to remain hands-on while developing into a future maintenance-management candidate Comfortable working outside, at heights, and in a dusty industrial environment Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work overtime as needed

Lead through technical ability, dependability, and willingness to work alongside the team Help organize daily maintenance activities without becoming disconnected from hands-on work Hold technicians accountable for completing assigned work correctly and safely Communicate professionally with maintenance, production, and plant leadership Develop an understanding of maintenance planning, labor allocation, parts management, downtime tracking, and technician development Prepare for progressively greater maintenance-leadership responsibility over the next two to three years

ENVIRONMENT
Environment is similar to an industrial barn setting Well-ventilated and maintained according to applicable cleanliness standards Dust is present due to dry-product production Some work is performed outside and at heights Outdoor equipment includes conveyors, motors, and hoppers Position requires standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and working around operating machinery
PPE AND TOOLS
Steel-toe boots required $75 boot allowance every six months Technician supplies standard hand tools and toolbox Company provides specialty tools as needed Replacement program available for personally owned tools damaged while performing company work

$34.00 - $36.00 per hour
