Duties Travel to assigned customer sites using company vehicles to read utility meters accurately with handheld or automated meter reading devices Perform routine inspections of meters and related equipment, including power tools, handheld readers, and bucket trucks when necessary Conduct utility locating activities to identify underground cabling and infrastructure using specialized equipment and mechanical knowledge Assist with equipment repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low voltage systems and electrical components following safety protocols and NEC standards Climb ladders or bucket trucks safely for meter access in elevated or hard-to-reach locations while adhering to DOT regulations and safety procedures Document readings manually or electronically, ensuring data accuracy for billing and reporting purposes Engage with customers professionally during field visits, providing excellent customer service and addressing any questions or concerns about the process Qualifications Proven experience working outdoors in utility or energy sectors, with familiarity in field service operations Strong mechanical knowledge coupled with experience in maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) tools and techniques Ability to perform heavy lifting, manual handling, climbing, and walking for extended periods as part of daily duties Technical proficiency with power tools, low voltage systems, cabling, and safety equipment such as safety harnesses or fall protection gear Knowledge of NEC standards, DOT regulations, and safety protocols essential for outdoor utility work Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating bucket trucks or similar equipment is preferred Basic math skills for accurate data recording; experience with handheld meter readers highly advantageous Excellent communication skills combined with a customer-focused attitude to ensure positive interactions during field visits Join us in delivering essential services through active fieldwork that keeps communities connected!
