The Utility Technician I is responsible for performing daily activities of the Utility Technician team of collection and distribution line specialist. Responsible for a wide range of duties to include; laying pipes, lines, water meters, meter reading, installing or removing water meters and other heavy physical activities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs work and assists team with repair activities. Responds to call outs and performs repairs for after hour emergencies. Creates and completes work orders. Follows SOPs as well as DOT, OSHA and other requirements. Operates vehicles & special equipment including forklift, backhoe, hydro vactor, probing rod, motor vehicle, portable generators, pumps, chain saws, chop saws, sewer cleaning machine, etc. Ensures all grounds maintenance work is completed. Installs and performs repairs in water and sewer systems. Average daily meter reading rate is 400-500 utility meters per day Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and 1-3 years Distribution/Collection System experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Driver's License and maintains insurable driving record. Distribution/Collection System Operator license or Water/Wastewater License.
Technical:
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications & internet; Ability to work with basic office equipment & phone systems; Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, DOT regulations & Utility SOPs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to: frequently lift 50-60 pounds; load, unload & move large equipment/tools; access confined spaces; continuously walk and climb stairs and ladders.
Pay:
$17.00 - $23.00 per hour
