Job Description
Job Summary Anderson County Water Authority has an opening for a full time Distribution Technician 1. This position is a non-exempt entry level position in the field operations of the water distribution system. This role exists to help crews maintain the distribution system serving over 10,500 customers within Anderson, Campbell, and Union Counties. Duties Flag and direct traffic as required while crews work in roadways requiring traffic protection. Assist in meter reading. Assist experienced water distribution personnel, excavating repairs with shovel. Assist in stalling, replacing, or repairing fire hydrants. Assist in stalling water services. Assist in installing water mains Assist in maintenance of equipment and vehicle Assist in flushing fire hydrants and other devices Assist in repairing or replacing water valves Assist in work zone cleanup Learn and assist in locating underground utilities using a variety of methods to accurately determine locations. Assist in repairing water meters Assist in facility maintenance When needed, assist in sewer division in excavations, repairs or other assigned duties Disconnect and reconnect services according to company policy. Perform on call duties as required Perform other duties as required. Experience 2 years general experience in utility operations CDL class A. Grade 2 Water Distribution License preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting consistently throughout the workday. Experience working in a fast-paced distribution center environment is highly desirable. Minimum Qualifications Interest in construction based outdoor career with the intention to learn and obtain higher skills. High School Diploma/GED Requirements Ability to perform on call rotations including nights, weekends, and holidays Ability to work a flexible schedule when required, such as staying late to complete work, coming in early, and working non traditional hours as needed. Ability and agreement to be called to work outside normal work hours as required. Ability to work in al weather conditions. Ability to work in excavations. Ability and agreement to follow all safety procedures, work rules, and policies. Ability to obtain a CDL within 2 years. (ACWA will assist in obtaining a license). Ability to operate common hand tools such as pliers, hammers, chisels, wrenches.
