Process Piping Technician /
Semiconductor Process Plumber Location:
San Jose, CA (On-site) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Process Piping Technician to support the installation, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of wet process equipment and chemical delivery systems in advanced semiconductor manufacturing environments. In this critical on-site role, you will partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, and field service teams to ensure flawless installation, reliability, and safety of high-purity piping and process equipment systems.
Key Responsibilities Piping Installation & Routing:
Install, assemble, and route process piping and plumbing systems for wet benches, chemical delivery networks, and semiconductor processing equipment.
Blueprint & P&ID Interpretation:
Read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical schematics, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams to guarantee precise routing and installation.
Material Fabrication & Testing:
Cut, fit, join, and test various process piping materials, including PVC, PVDF, and stainless steel.
System Integrity & Leak Testing:
Perform rigorous leak checks, pressure testing, and system verification to ensure absolute structural integrity.
Utility & Chemical Connections:
Install and connect chemical process lines, deionized (DI) water systems, drain lines, and associated components.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Diagnose plumbing and process equipment issues, executing corrective repairs, preventive maintenance, and system upkeep.
Safety & Compliance:
Strictly adhere to all safety procedures, cleanroom protocols, chemical handling guidelines, and environmental regulations.
Documentation & Commissioning:
Support equipment startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance activities while maintaining accurate installation, service, and maintenance records.
Required Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Strong hands-on background in industrial or high-purity process plumbing installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Material Proficiency:
Demonstrated ability to cut, fit, join, and test piping materials including PVC, PVDF, and stainless steel.
Technical Application:
Proven capacity to perform preventive maintenance, leak checks, system verification, and corrective repairs safely using hand and power tools.
Documentation & Teamwork:
Ability to accurately log service and installation records while working independently or collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Preferred Qualifications Prior hands-on experience in semiconductor manufacturing, wet process equipment, chemical delivery systems, or high-tech cleanroom environments. Familiarity with high-purity water, chemical distribution, process exhaust, and drain systems. Advanced proficiency in reading P&IDs, mechanical schematics, and process flow diagrams. Technical certification, vocational training, or trade school education in Plumbing, Mechanical Systems, Industrial Maintenance, or a related discipline. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods while lifting or moving moderately heavy equipment, piping, and tools. Comfortable working in active manufacturing, cleanroom, and chemical processing environments. Willingness and ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and consistently follow strict safety and cleanroom protocols.
