Job Description

The Rapid Group is seeking an experienced Rigger / Millwright / Maintenance Mechanic to support industrial, commercial, municipal, and transportation sector projects. This role involves machinery assembly, rigging, alignment, equipment repair, fabrication, and field service work. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical ability, hands‑on rigging experience, and the ability to safely disassemble, rebuild, and install rotating and production equipment. This is a full‑time, field‑based position serving customers throughout New Jersey, Southern NJ, and the NY Metro area. Key Responsibilities Perform machinery assembly and alignment for rotating and production machinery. Conduct hoisting, rigging, installing, setting, aligning, removing, and commissioning of equipment. Disassemble, inspect, repair/rebuild, and reassemble rotating and production equipment in both shop and field environments. Perform sheet metal or steel fabrication and welding with or without blueprints. Use machinist hand tools, precision alignment tools, and measuring instruments for setup and equipment operation. Repair and assemble bushings, bearings, couplings, shafts, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels. Support field service calls throughout the NJ, Southern NJ, and NY Metro regions. Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment. Collaborate with team members to complete mechanical and rigging projects efficiently. Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of experience as a rigger, millwright, or maintenance mechanic. Strong experience with machinery assembly, alignment, and rotating equipment. Skilled in rigging, hoisting, equipment installation, alignment, removal, and commissioning. Ability to perform repairs and rebuilds on industrial/production machinery. Sheet metal or steel fabrication and welding experience (with or without blueprints). Proficiency with machinist tools, precision alignment devices, and measuring instruments. Machinist background is a plus.
Licenses & Requirements:
Valid driver's license required (CDL is a plus). Mandatory pre employment drug testing. Fluent in English—read, write, speak, and comprehend. Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship. Ability to work independently or with a team. Good communication and customer service skills. Reliable, safety focused, and able to work in dynamic field environments.
Compensation Pay Range:
