Job Description

Job Summary Norrell Construction & Equipment is seeking a skilled and reliable Crane and Elevator Technician to inspect, repair, and maintain elevators, overhead cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment. This role ensures that all equipment meets OSHA, ASME, and manufacturer standards and provides safe and dependable operation for our clients. You will be responsible for servicing equipment in various industrial settings, interfacing directly with customers, and managing repairs from evaluation through completion. Travel to out-of-state job sites is required, sometimes at short notice.
EXPERIENCE & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Must have 3+ years of industry experience. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Must pass drug and background check. Must be comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights. Able to lift to 50lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair: Elevators (freight/personnel), Overhead cranes, Hoists, and other overhead lifting systems. Ensure compliance with OSHA, ASME, and manufacturer specifications. Develop and execute customer service and inspection programs. Communicate effectively with customers, management, and team members. Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues using technical manuals and schematics.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Proficient in servicing personnel and freight elevators. Extensive hands-on experience with overhead cranes and hoists. Strong understanding of three-phase and single-phase electrical systems.
Skilled in:
VFD retrofits, Radio remote installations, Motor and gear replacements, Hydraulic-to-electric brake conversions, Bar-to-festoon conversions. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics. Familiarity with solid state and magnetic motor control (AC/DC). Experience adjusting door mechanisms and safety controls. Knowledge of mechanical gearing systems. Installation of overhead lifting systems, including: hoists, cranes, electrification systems, ASCE rail, and elevator structures.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent. PLC and motor repair experience is a plus. Machining and welding skills are a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs. Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots. Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting. Work at heights, on ladders or scaffolding, using appropriate fall protection. Comfortable working in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind).
Pay:
$40.00 - $60.00 per hour
