This role ensures routine lease upkeep, poly pipe fusion, secondary containment liner repairs, valve/line servicing, battery maintenance, and spill cleanup are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with operator standards and environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities Field Supervision & Leadership Direct, coordinate, and work alongside a dedicated 3-person maintenance crew to complete daily field work orders. Assign specific tasks to crew hands based on job requirements, skill levels, and field priorities. Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for lease operators, company representatives ("Company Men"), and third-party inspectors. Mentor, train, and directly evaluate the two crew members on proper maintenance procedures, hand-tool usage, and equipment safety. Maintenance Execution, Poly Pipe & Liner Repair Operations Oversee routine lease maintenance, tank battery repairs, separator servicing, manifold checks, and containment system upkeep. Perform and oversee butt fusion, electrofusion, and socket fusion of high-density polyethylene (HDPE/poly) piping for lease line repairs, flowlines, and tie-ins according to manufacturer and operator specs. Perform and oversee containment liner repairs (secondary containment berms, tank battery liners, pit liners) using hot-wedge welding, extrusion welding, or specialized patch materials. Inspect, prep, and clean damaged liner surfaces to perform spark/holiday testing, vacuum box testing, or visual leak detection to verify containment integrity. Coordinate pipefitting, bolt-up operations, packing replacements, valve greasing/repairs, and line leak fixes. Ensure all maintenance trucks, poly fusion equipment, liner welding tools (extrusion guns, heat guns), specialized service tools, and heavy support equipment (e.g., telehandlers, pressure washers, winches) are fully operational and inspected daily. Inspect completed repairs, fused lines, and patched liners to verify seam strength, leak-free operation, and quality compliance before signing off on jobs. Safety, Environmental & Supplied Air Compliance (HSE) Lead daily safety meetings (Toolbox Talks) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) with the crew prior to beginning maintenance tasks. Supervise and safely execute operations under fresh air / supplied air systems (SCBA / SABA) when working in environments with potential or known high-level atmospheric hazards. Respiratory Protection, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, and line break procedures. Identify, mitigate, and immediately report site hazards, equipment failures, near-misses, or environmental releases. Manage spill containment, fluid recovery, chemical washdowns, and site cleanup protocols on active lease locations. Administration & Reporting Complete daily job logs, JSAs, service tickets, fusion log sheets, liner QA/QC inspection logs, and crew timecards accurately and submit them on schedule. Track maintenance consumables, spare parts inventories, poly fittings, liner patch stock, and rental tool usage. Provide daily progress updates and report equipment status changes to field management.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
3-5+ years of hands-on experience in oilfield roustabout services or facility maintenance, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or crew-lead capacity. Certifications (Required): Supplied Air / SCBA Certification & Current Quantitative Fit Test (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 compliant) — Certified and cleared to work under air . Polyethylene (Poly) Pipe Fusion Certification (e.g., McElroy or equivalent industry standard) — Mandatory . Current Medical Clearance for Respirator / Supplied Air Work. Valid Driver's License (Clean MVR required; CDL Class A preferred). SafeLand
USA / PEC
Card. H2S Clear / H2S Awareness Certification. First Aid / CPR certified. Rigging & Overhead Lift / Forklift certifications preferred.
Technical & Atmospheric Safety Skills:
Practical knowledge of secondary containment liner materials (HDPE, LLDPE, Polyurethane) and repair techniques (heat welding, patching, extrusion guns). Demonstrated proficiency in inspecting, donning, operating, and working in Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and Supplied-Air Respirator (SABA) systems. Expert knowledge and demonstrated competency in fusing HDPE/poly pipe, setting heating iron temperatures, calculating soak/dwell times, and evaluating bead parameters. Deep knowledge of lease facility operations, oilfield valves, pumps, flowlines, chemical injection systems, and hand/power maintenance tools.
Physical Requirements:
Must pass an OSHA-compliant medical evaluation for respirator use and be clean-shaven at the facial seal area. Ability to perform physical labor while wearing breathing apparatus and personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly and work outdoors in extreme weather conditions for extended shifts. Ability to climb, bend, stoop, crouch for liner prep work, and operate manual high-torque tools and fusion/welding equipment.
Soft Skills & Attributes Language Requirements:
English Fluency (Required): Must speak, read, and write English fluently to complete job tickets, read operator procedures, follow safety mandates, and communicate effectively with field management and company representatives. Bilingual (English / Spanish) (Plus): Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred to enhance daily team communication and safety instruction within diverse field crews.
