Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and safety-minded Hydro Millwright/Operator to join our power generation team. In this role, you will install, troubleshoot, maintain, and overhaul heavy industrial machinery within our hydroelectric facility. Your expertise will directly ensure plant reliability, operational efficiency, and the safe generation of clean energy.
Key Responsibilities Overhaul & Repair:
Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble large water turbines, generators, pumps, and governors.
Precision Alignment:
Perform precise laser and dial indicator alignments on shafts, couplings, and major rotating equipment.
Rigging & Lifting:
Plan and execute complex heavy rigging and lifting maneuvers using overhead cranes, hoists, and rigging hardware.
Fluid Power Systems:
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high-pressure hydraulic, pneumatic, and oil lubrication systems.
Machining & Welding:
Perform field machining, drilling, tapping, structural welding, and custom component fabrication.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere strictly to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and fall protection safety protocols.
Required Qualifications Certification:
Valid Journeyman Millwright ticket, Red Seal certification, or equivalent formal trade apprenticeship.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience in heavy industry (hydroelectric, power generation, or heavy marine preferred).
Technical Literacy:
Proficient in reading engineering blueprints, hydraulic schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
Tools:
Expert proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators). Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to lift up to [50] lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and near open water. Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and noise levels. Ability to participate in an [on-call / rotating shift] schedule for emergency repairs.
