Job Description
Commercial Refrigeration Technician Job Summary DRD Repair is seeking an experienced Commercial Refrigeration Technician to join our growing service team in Lexington, Kentucky. In this role, you will diagnose, service, maintain, and repair commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment throughout Central Kentucky. Our technicians work primarily in restaurants, convenience stores, commercial kitchens, and other foodservice environments, servicing equipment such as walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-ins, prep tables, ice machines, and rooftop HVAC units. You will work with a wide range of customers, including national brands such as Buffalo Wild Wings, Chipotle, Pizza Hut, Arby's, Freddy's, and others. We are looking for technicians who take pride in their work, can troubleshoot independently, communicate professionally with customers, and want to build a long-term career with a growing company. What You'll Do Diagnose, service, and repair commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment Service walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-ins, prep tables, ice machines, rooftop HVAC units, and related equipment Troubleshoot temperature-control issues, refrigerant leaks, defrost failures, compressor problems, electrical faults, and other system issues Repair and replace components including compressors, evaporator and condenser fan motors, TXVs, contactors, relays, controls, and motor starters Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on refrigeration, ice, and HVAC equipment Respond to emergency refrigeration and cooling outages and help customers minimize equipment downtime Accurately document equipment information, diagnostic findings, repairs performed, and recommended follow-up work What We're Looking For Required Minimum 2 years of hands-on commercial HVAC/R experience EPA 608 certification Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Strong refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently and diagnose equipment in the field Preferred Experience servicing commercial refrigeration equipment in restaurant, foodservice, or retail environments Kentucky Journeyman HVAC License Technical education or formal training in HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, or mechanical systems Additional manufacturer, controls, or mechanical certifications Benefits Competitive pay of up to $40+/hour, depending on experience Take-home company service van Profit sharing Paid time off and paid holidays 401(k) with 4% company match Health, dental, vision, and life insurance Professional development and training opportunities Long-term advancement opportunities About Us DRD Repair is based in Lexington, Kentucky, with a second location in Ashland operating as Slone Refrigeration.
