Transition to full-time after 90 days / 960 billable hours Position Summary We are seeking experienced Chiller Technicians to support critical cooling operations at the IREN Data Center in Childress, Texas. The Chiller Technician will be responsible for the operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of large-scale chiller and cooling systems supporting a mission-critical AI data-center environment. Key Responsibilities Operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial/commercial chiller systems. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, and associated equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and controls-related issues. Monitor temperatures, pressures, flow rates, refrigerant systems, glycol loops, and overall system performance. Respond to alarms, equipment failures, and abnormal operating conditions. Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and leak detection as required. Troubleshoot and interact with BMS/building automation systems. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and equipment documentation. Complete work orders and maintenance documentation through applicable CMMS systems. Support commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover of new cooling equipment. Work with chilled-water systems, cooling towers, pumps, and associated mechanical infrastructure. Follow strict LOTO, OSHA, PPE, confined-space, refrigerant, chemical-handling, and site safety requirements. Coordinate with HVAC, electrical, controls, mechanical, and data-center operations personnel. Participate in 12-hour day or night shifts and weekend/holiday coverage as required. Ideal Candidate 3-5+ years of chiller experience in commercial, industrial, central-plant, or mission-critical environments. Strong experience with large centrifugal, screw, or air-cooled chillers. Experience with cooling towers, chilled-water systems, pumps, heat exchangers, and hydronic systems. Strong mechanical and refrigeration troubleshooting skills. Controls/BMS experience preferred. Experience in data centers, hospitals, manufacturing facilities, power plants, semiconductor facilities, or other mission-critical environments is highly desirable. EPA 608 Universal certification preferred/required depending on equipment. HVAC/Journeyman license is a plus. OSHA 10/30 and
NFPA 70E
are a plus. Ability to work independently in a high-demand, mission-critical environment. Travel/Per Diem & Housing Candidates do not need to live in Childress. Because of the specialized nature of these positions, is willing to consider qualified candidates from outside the local market. For the first 90 days, housing program provides housing and the Field Employee receives $60/day for food . After 90 days/960 billable hours, the employee transitions to full-time, with housing/food arrangements transitioning to a per-diem structure discussed directly with company. The current reference point for per diem is $150/day .
