Kingsley Plant Weave Flag Technician

POSITION REPORTS TO

Weave Production Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Flag Technician repairs air jet weave machinery by diagnosing faults and using tools to correct mechanical failures. Identifies cloth and machine defects and get them corrected. The flag tech completes one light inspection on each assigned machine once per shift. The Flag Technician works on a rotating 8-hour shift.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Respond to machine quality and performance flags identified by weavers and/or plant supervision.\nTroubleshoot weave machine issues.\nIdentify and get fabric and machine defects corrected.\nPerform preventive maintenance.\nObtain/complete maintenance work orders.\nPerform all other duties deemed necessary as required.

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Able to successfully progress through Kingsley technician classroom and OJT training as expected.\nAble to correctly identify defects and machine issues, document, and make sure issues are addressed.\nShould be self-directed to the point of working with little to no supervision. SKILLS•REQUIRED Proficient in current senior operator position\nMust be proficient in relief weaving prior to starting classroom tech training\nAbility to read and write and follow directions\nBasic Math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)\nGood communication skills\nStrong discipline\nGood organization skills

MACHINES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Airjet weave machine (all types)\nReed hook, leno hook, scissors, flashlight\nYarn, both dyed and greige fabric\nBoth US and metric tools of all types\nPC Computer/BARCO\nSteel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, ear protection, LOTO equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION

Standing:

Ability to stand while working 90% of day\n

Sitting:

Ability to sit down 5% of day\n

Moving:

Must be able to move around a 316,000 sq. ft. weaving facility with concrete floors to get to supplies, equipment, and to perform elements of job. 80% of day\n

Reaching/Lifting:

Must be able to reach anywhere from 8\" to 24\" into a filling case to grasp filling packages weighing between 8 and 25 pounds and place package on creel stand. Lifting press rollers 100 lb (with assistance). Lifting 30 lb take up motors & 40 lb let off motors as needed for repairs. 60% of day\n

Climbing:

Must be able to step up and down off weaving platform which are 10\" and 5\" off the ground to inspect machines and start them. 40% of day\n

Push/Pull/Reach:

Reach 12\" up to 48\" to grasp a warp yarn end. Guide reed hook through heddle and reed, then pull warp yarn end through. 10% of day\n

Bending:

Must be able to bend and stoop to effect repairs to weaving machines. Must be able to stoop at Staubli head panel to repair. Must be able to go on hands and knees to change out cables and valves. 30% of day\n

Walking:

Ability to walk through out theplanton concrete surface. 70% of day\n

Dexterity:

Ability to tie knots and draw ends in fine denier yarns to target times. 30% of day\n

Visual Acuity:

Ability to identify both warp and filling defects in fabric on the machine and in swatches. To see fine denier yarn to draw ends correctly through correct heddles and drop wires. To read and understand draw graphs, computer screen or any written instructions. 40% of day\n

Work Environment:

Ability to work in cotton dust environment. Meet cotton pulmonary function requirements. Must be able to hear power equipment operating in work area. Ability to work in high noise production environment and wear approved ear protection, safety glasses, and steel toes. This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This role regularly works around moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment. 100% of day\n

Work Environment:

Ability to follow defined break schedule. Regular and predictable attendance on assigned rotating shift schedule. 100% of day\n

Other:

Must have ability to prioritize job functions in order to maximize production. Must have ability to understand mechanical systems and troubleshoot issues to successfully repair. Must comply with company rules, including but not limited to, safety, attendance, and other job specifications. 100% of day

SHIFT REQUIREMENTS

Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands. The Flag Technician works on a rotating 8-hour shift. 1st
