Job Description
What to Expect Tesla is seeking a sharp, independent Low Voltage Repair Technician to work in the General Assembly production environment to resolve vehicle electrical issues. You'll need a strong technical aptitude, fast troubleshooting capabilities, and good communication skills to succeed in this role. What You'll Do Make, buy, update, repair, rework, and prototype harnesses for new cars in early-stage development and going into production; support and document trials as needed Troubleshoot issues with wire harnesses and repair of those damaged during General Assembly Support bench-top electrical system builds and testing, including obtaining and tracking LV components from other Engineering and Purchasing groups Support 3D physical mock-up builds of electrical system Provide clear, accurate, and timely feedback to engineers on any problems found during testing and trial builds, while maintaining component-level data, track open issues Train production associates in proper harness installation Build various test jigs and assemblies for electrical and mechanical validation of wire harnesses and components What You'll Bring Previous experience with automotive electrical systems, wire harnesses, components, and/or devices Previous experience servicing, troubleshooting/diagnosing, and repairing wiring, connectors, and associated components Ability to use multi-meters, soldering, crimping, mechanical tasks; preference given for higher skill Ability to run software, including diagnostics Previous experience reading and understanding electrical schematics and engineering drawings required; preference given for understanding and creating work instructions for installation and repair Previous experience sourcing and buying various tools, hardware components and test equipment is a plus Essential Physical Demands Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines Tesla is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
