Service Technician

Job Description

Position Summary The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and overhauling agricultural and utility machinery and vehicles. This role plays a vital part in ensuring customer satisfaction by maintaining equipment performance, completing timely repairs, and upholding high standards of service quality and safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Disassemble and reassemble machinery to repair and test components Diagnose equipment malfunctions using manual inspection and computerized diagnostic tools Perform repairs and overhauls on tractors, harvesters, and other farm equipment Maintain detailed records of work performed, including parts used and labor time Communicate repair status and updates to the Service Office for customer updates Create accurate parts lists for estimates and repair orders Operate and maintain diagnostic and calibration equipment for electronic control units (ECUs) Follow safety and cleanliness protocols to maintain a professional work environment Commit to ongoing OEM training and certification requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word and Excel) Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Ability to read and interpret repair manuals and schematics Excellent communication and time management skills Education and Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED required 1-2 years of technician experience in a service or dealership setting preferred Kubota Registered Technician certification preferred Forklift certification preferred Language and Reasoning Abilities Ability to prepare repair documentation and present information clearly to management Capable of following complex written and verbal instructions Physical Demands Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Requires frequent standing, kneeling, and bending for extended periods Visual requirements include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Work Environment Work performed in a typical service shop environment Noise levels vary from moderate to high, depending on equipment use Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities Learning and Development Timeline0-3
Months:
Onboarding and Basic Operations Complete dealership orientation and safety training Familiarize with tools, equipment, and service protocols Shadow experienced technicians to learn procedures and workflow Begin performing basic maintenance tasks (oil changes, filter replacements, inspections) Learn to navigate OEM systems and documentation (Kubota service manuals, diagnostic tools) 3-6
Months:
Intermediate Diagnostics and Service Execution Take responsibility for more complex diagnostics and repairs under supervision Begin using diagnostic equipment to analyze and troubleshoot ECU systems Assist in preparing repair estimates and understanding warranty procedures Communicate service status directly with the service office and support customer interactions Maintain clean workspaces and follow shop organization and documentation protocols 6+
Months:
