Full-Time | Monday•Friday, 7:30 AM•4:00 PM (Occasional overtime required/available)
Pay:
$20.00•$40.00 per hour (DOE & licensing) + Overtime opportunities

About VEC Solutions VEC Solutions is a licensed industrial and commercial contractor (LASFM #F2157) delivering turnkey low-voltage communications, fiber optic infrastructure, NDAA-compliant physical security, access control, and underground utility pathway solutions. We are hiring a skilled, dependable Communications Technician (Mid to Lead Level) to handle solo field service calls, commercial installations, and plant maintenance across our client base.
Key Responsibilities Access Control & Physical Security:
Install, wire, program, and service commercial/industrial access control systems, card readers, door strikes, maglocks, and request-to-exit hardware (Keyscan, Frontier, ASSA ABLOY, etc.).
NDAA-Compliant Video Surveillance:
Mount, configure, and service commercial IP surveillance hardware, NVRs, and cameras (Hanwha Vision, Pelco, Digital Watchdog, etc.).
Fiber Optics & Structured Cabling:
Route, terminate, and certify Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A and fiber optic cabling; perform precision fusion splicing, OTDR analysis, and optical power meter testing.
Autonomous Field Service:
Manage solo service dispatches efficiently, systematically diagnosing electrical and network faults before executing repairs (collaborating on 2-person crews for major installations when required).
Aerial & Height Work:
Safely operate aerial equipment (scissor lifts, boom lifts) and climb ladders at heights exceeding 20 feet on commercial and industrial job sites.
What We Offer Hourly Pay:
$20.00•$40.00/hour based on experience, with regular overtime opportunities
Take-Home Vehicle:
Dedicated company service vehicle assigned for daily dispatch and commute
Company-Paid Training & Licensing:
Complete time and monetary sponsorship for Louisiana State Fire Marshal licensing, TWIC cards, and
OSHA 10/30
certifications
Equipment Supplied:
VEC provides all specialized diagnostic electronics (OTDRs, fusion splicers, network testers), power tools, and specialty hand tools

Professional Development Assistance Qualifications & Physical Requirements Experience:
2+ years of hands-on low-voltage, access control, CCTV, or fiber optic termination experience (must be capable of operating without direct on-site supervision).
Driver's Record:
Valid Driver's License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) to meet take-home vehicle insurance standards.
Industrial Site Access:
Ability to pass industrial background checks and pre-employment/random DISA drug screenings (including hair follicle testing).
Physical & Heights:
Ability to work at heights (20+ ft ladders, boom/scissor lifts), lift up to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Tools:
Must provide your own standard personal hand tools (screwdrivers, snips, wire strippers, pliers, punchdown tool). All power tools and specialized electronics are supplied by VEC.
