In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of low-voltage systems, including data cabling, fiber optic systems, security cameras, VoIP telephony, and networking infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of communication systems across various facilities, providing vital support for our clients' technology needs. Responsibilities Install, configure, and troubleshoot low-voltage systems such as structured cabling, fiber optic networks, CCTV security systems, Ethernet networks, and VoIP telephony equipment. Perform fiber splicing and termination to ensure high-quality data transmission across fiber optic systems. Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately execute installation tasks. Conduct diagnostic testing using specialized tools including ohmmeters, telecommunications testing equipment, and RF testers to identify issues and implement effective solutions. Maintain and repair telecommunication equipment by applying electrical wiring standards (NEC compliant), troubleshooting hardware failures, and performing routine maintenance. Collaborate with clients on-site during field service visits to assess system performance, provide technical support, and ensure customer satisfaction through clear communication and professional service. Document all work performed with detailed reports, including system configurations, test results, and repair logs for record-keeping and future reference. Requirements Proven experience as a Low Voltage Technician or Service Technician with a strong background in telecommunications systems installation and maintenance. Proficiency in working with a variety of low-voltage wiring including Cat5e/Cat6 cables, structured cabling, network wiring, and power over Ethernet (PoE). Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, fiber optic system installation, and testing tools such as optical power meters and visual fault locators. Knowledge of network protocols (Ethernet), Cisco routers, Juniper devices, LAN/WAN configurations, and computer networking fundamentals. Familiarity with telecommunication systems like Avaya or similar PBX platforms; experience with VoIP setup is highly desirable. Ability to read schematics accurately and troubleshoot electrical issues within AC/DC electrical systems using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters. Skilled in using hand tools (wire strippers, crimpers), power tools, and specialized testing equipment for telecommunications testing. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients at all levels.
