Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Optic Fiber Splicer to join our dynamic telecommunications team. In this role, you will be responsible for the precise installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cables to ensure high-quality network connectivity. Your expertise will help build and maintain robust fiber optic networks that support critical communications infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in diverse environments, utilizing advanced tools and equipment to deliver reliable telecommunications services. Responsibilities Perform fiber optic cable splicing, termination, and connectorization with precision using specialized fusion splicing equipment. Install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber optic systems in outdoor and indoor environments, adhering to safety standards and industry best practices. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and other construction machinery safely during installation and maintenance activities. Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to verify signal integrity, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal network performance. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering plans to accurately execute installation projects aligned with specifications. Conduct telecommunications outside plant operations including cable pulling, trenching, and conduit installation while following the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Collaborate with team members on network infrastructure projects involving cabling, LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage electrical work. Qualifications Proven experience in field service roles involving fiber optic systems installation and telecommunications network cable splicing. Strong knowledge of telecommunications testing equipment, fiber splicing techniques, and troubleshooting methods. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks safely and efficiently in outdoor work settings. Skilled in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and construction plans related to fiber optic networks. Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and safety protocols for outdoor telecommunications work. Experience working with low voltage electrical systems, power tools, hand tools, and electrical safety standards. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on engineering troubleshooting support for complex network issues. From $180.00 per day
