This energetic role requires a skilled technician capable of diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing precision repairs, and ensuring all vessels operate safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive inspections of boats and watercraft to identify mechanical, electrical, and structural issues. Perform routine maintenance including engine repairs, rigging adjustments, sheet metal work, welding, soldering, and fabrication tasks. Diagnose electrical problems using schematics, ohmmeters, multimeters, and other precision measuring instruments; repair ship electrical systems and troubleshoot engineering issues. Utilize hand tools, power tools, calipers, and heavy lifting equipment safely to execute repairs and assembly tasks with precision. Maintain water transportation equipment by replacing parts, repairing mechanical systems such as diesel engines and hydraulic systems, and ensuring compliance with safety standards using personal protective equipment (PPE). Read and interpret technical schematics and engineering troubleshooting manuals to accurately diagnose complex system failures. Support customer service efforts by providing expert advice on maintenance needs and repair timelines; ensure all work meets quality standards for safety and performance. Qualifications Proven service technician experience with marine or vehicle maintenance; familiarity with watercraft preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience including ship electrical systems maintenance and electrical diagnostics. Experience working with schematics, assembly processes, fabrication techniques, welding, soldering, sheet metal work, and the use of calipers. Knowledge of marine mechanics including rigging, diesel mechanics, heavy lifting techniques, and maintenance of mechanical systems on water transportation equipment. Ability to utilize hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters confidently. Experience with maintenance, repair & operations (MRO), engineering troubleshooting, and fabricating custom parts or solutions. Familiarity with personal protective equipment (PPE) use to ensure safety during all repair activities. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in demanding environments; commitment to safety standards at all times.
